Angelo Flammia - Owner/Head Coach

Angelo was Physical training Instructor (PTI) in the Royal Air Force for 8 years where he was working on improving the fitness of basic trainees and preparing soldiers for deployment. A fully qualified Level 3 personal trainer with an NVQ Level 3 in Exercise and Physiology, fitness has always been a big part of his life. A very keen rugby player, he competed at a semi professional level for many years and represented the Royal Air Force and Combined Services in both rugby union and rugby league. He was also selected to represent Great Britain in the Defence Forces Rugby League World Cup in 2008 and was part of the winning team.

Angelo left the military and hung up his boots to pursue his passion of owning his own CrossFit Gym in 2011. As well as coaching he does a lot of programming work for the competitors at the gym. As a competitive Athlete himself he takes great pride in ensuring his Athletes are doing everything they can to achieve their goals. Angelo would like to get CrossFit Team GB to regionals and ensure they maintain their reputation as the Fittest Gym in Bristol.

He is very passionate about his own training and particularly enjoys Olympic Weightlifting and Strength training. He trains 6 times a week and likes to ensure he gets a good mix of CrossFit, Weightlifting, Gymnastics and Conditioning in his program. He has competed in both CrossFit and Strongman and completed numerous challenging events ranging from a Half Marathon Run to a Marathon Row. He will continue to train hard and work towards his main goal of ensuring CrossFit GB continue to grow and remain the fittest and most successful gym in Bristol.

Kate Slee - Coach

Kate first got into Crossfit in 2015 as a member at Crossfit GB and became an over night addict, not only to the results of the workouts but to the community of people and support at the box. Kate is an International Presenter for Les Mills and alongside presenting at fitness events around the world she trains other people how to be instructors.

Fitness has always played a major part in Kate's life, as a teenager she was playing national level hockey and competing in Athletics. She knew she wanted to have a career in Fitness and feels fortunate everyday she gets to do it. Kate has a huge passion for helping other people realise they can do more than they thought possible, weather thats picking up a bar for the first time, doing their first push up on their toes or making it through a workout they never dreamed they'd be able to finish.

Kate is a Reebok Sponsored Athlete for Team Reebok UK, this involves not only competing at a variety of Crossfit Competitions globally but being an ambassador for what Reebok stand for. Reebok's mission is to inspire people everywhere to be their absolute best —physically, mentally and socially, something we at Crossfit GB feel really passionately about.

She loves to train hard and loves the challenges that Crossfit brings, its not often easy but with hard work, commitment and a heap of support from the trainers and other members at GB you'll be amazed at what your body can do!

Laura Leyden - Coach

Laura has always loved going to the gym and after a short break from fitness to have her daughter she was introduced to CrossFit by her nephew at CrossFit Oz Box in Clevedon. Her passion for fitness and helping people over the course of her four years at Oz Box led her from enthusiastic member to part of the coaching team.

Laura would always take her daughter with her to the gym from when she was just a baby and growing up in the gym environment she noticed her copy the movements the members of the class were doing and would love spending time in the gym just joining in! This led Laura to get her CrossFit Kids qualifications and she started Oz Box's Kids and teens programme helping to develop the future generation of Crossfitters and fitness enthusiasts. The benefits of starting kids at an early age along the right physical path is one that is a hugely important step and one Laura feels passionate about.

Laura loves helping new people start their fitness journey with an emphasis on getting them to move better. She is a keen chef and after being diagnosed with lactose intolerance 10 years ago this led her on a quest to not only improve her diet but to help others understand the benefits of healthy eating. She is a qualified sports nutritionist and will more than likely be offering you various healthy snacks at the gym!

Emma Leigh - Coach

Emma has always been active and pre-CrossFit enjoyed the gym as well as hill running and mountain biking. She discovered CrossFit whilst living in New Zealand in April 2012 after a friend coaxed her into going to a taster session at the awesome MaD CrossFit in Wellington. Needless to say, Emma loved it and that was that, a CrossFit love affair began.

After returning to the UK in December 2012 Emma joined CrossFit GB. She was new to Bristol and had been away from the UK for 5 years but the CrossFit GB community came to the rescue with a ready-made social circle!
She gained her CrossFit Level 1 Certification in 2013 and her British Weightlifting Level 1 in 2014. Emma enjoys both individual and team competitions. Highlights as a team include finishing 3rd at the 2013 Strength in Depth competition. As an Individual, it was qualifying and taking part in the Battle of London 2013 and finishing 5th overall in her age category at The Athlete Games in 2014.

One of the things she loves about CrossFit and coaching is that it is always challenging her to learn new skills, she says "I learnt to handstand walk when I was nearly 40 years old, how cool is that"?!

Sarah Ashby (Membership Manager)

Sarah has been a long-standing member at CrossFit GB since 2011 and has since completed her CrossFit Level 1 as well as Level 1: British Weightlifting Assistant Club Coach. Since 2010, Sarah is also a Level 3 personal trainer and spinning instructor in her "spare time" outside of her office job.

As our Memberships and Enquiries Manager, Sarah will often be the person you have first contact with. You'll find her at the end of the emails, or in the gym lifting heavy(ish) weights! Whether you've done CrossFit before or not, Sarah really enjoys helping new people try out GB for the first time and getting them signed up for sessions, so please do drop her an email to get started (

Sarah has a crazy trainer obsession, as well as a passion for cycling, yoga and all things food!

Will Morgan (Coach)

Will has been in the Fitness industry for the last 2 and a half years working as a Personal trainer and Sports massage therapist.

He has a background in both Football and boxing which was what led him on his path to fitness. Will joined CrossFit GB a few years ago as member and because of his background took very well to the CrossFit style of training. Having seen the benefits first hand he began implementing the Crossfit method with his clients and the rest is history.

On his quest to become a better coach Will went on several different courses to improve his knowledge in the different areas of CrossFit ranging from Weightlifting to Gymnastics. Will has really taken to Olympic weightlifting and has recently qualified for the British Championships.

He is looking forward to joining the CrossFit GB team and working with its members.
