Meet the Team
Angelo Flammia - Owner/Head Coach
Angelo was Physical training Instructor (PTI) in the Royal Air Force for 8 years where he was working on improving the fitness of basic trainees and preparing soldiers for deployment. A fully qualified Level 3 personal trainer with an NVQ Level 3 in Exercise and Physiology, fitness has always been a big part of his life. A very keen rugby player, he competed at a semi professional level for many years and represented the Royal Air Force and Combined Services in both rugby union and rugby league. He was also selected to represent Great Britain in the Defence Forces Rugby League World Cup in 2008 and was part of the winning team.
Angelo left the military and hung up his boots to pursue his passion of owning his own CrossFit Gym in 2011. As well as coaching he does a lot of programming work for the competitors at the gym. As a competitive Athlete himself he takes great pride in ensuring his Athletes are doing everything they can to achieve their goals. Angelo would like to get CrossFit Team GB to regionals and ensure they maintain their reputation as the Fittest Gym in Bristol.
He is very passionate about his own training and particularly enjoys Olympic Weightlifting and Strength training. He trains 6 times a week and likes to ensure he gets a good mix of CrossFit, Weightlifting, Gymnastics and Conditioning in his program. He has competed in both CrossFit and Strongman and completed numerous challenging events ranging from a Half Marathon Run to a Marathon Row. He will continue to train hard and work towards his main goal of ensuring CrossFit GB continue to grow and remain the fittest and most successful gym in Bristol.

Chris has been involved in sport all his life, playing both football and rugby, with injury the reason why he first joined a gym at the age of 15.
Fast forward to 2012 where Chris joined CrossFit Bath, and he never looked back. Moving over to CrossFit GB in 2015 Chris represented the gym in numerous competitions one of which he won along side our other coach Connie back in 2017.
In more recent years his training has shifted in favour of training for longevity, with a big emphasis on quality movement, developing overall strength and progressing/regressing body weight exercises as-well as learning different methods of training to help him become a better athlete and a better coach.
Chris has a passion for fitness and helping others achieve their fitness goals, whatever they may be.

Raquel Sanjurjo - Coach
Raquel has always been very active and from a young age would do any Sports she could, from gymnastics, to figure skating, swimming, dancing, and even triathlon. When she was just 18 years old she discovered Crossfit, and has been training hard in this sport ever since.
Raquel took a keen interest in the human body and decided that this was the road she wanted to go down, helping others increase their performance and live a healthy lifestyle. In 2012 she started personal training, group coaching and nutritional programming and since then she has worked in many sports related jobs, before making the move over to Lanzarote to work as a fitness manager at one of the best sport hotels in the world, as part of the Bella Bayliss triathlon coaching team. Having recently moved to the UK she now divides her time between coaching CrossFit here at GB, working as a Studio and PT manager at Ministry of Fitness, and she also does some Swimming coaching. She is doing her Performance Nutrition diploma, as well as her L4 Exercise referral qualification.
Raquel is super passionate about helping people improve their life through exercise and food, and does so with loads of energy and a big smile on her face.
